Thoughts of the day

I was reading the Nature Conservancy magazine and it is heartbreaking to read of all that we are loosing in the world to expansion, greed and ignorance.  Animal species, flora, food sources. Woody Woodpecker was on the endangered species list!  Woodpeckers were reintroduced at the Disney Wilderness Preserve, FL after not being seen for decades..decades.  The alarm about Woody was sounded at Fort Bragg, NC!
It was because of the training activities at F.B.  Every action has an opposite and equal reaction.  You remember that from high school?  Which brings me to our everyday lives where we take for granted so many things will be here or do not notice that they are gone.  All forms of life are important and sometimes we do not see friends or family for a while and assume they are just hibernating..yes but, maybe not.  I remember a neighbor who had a heart attack and it was three months before any of her family thought they should check on her and another two months before they became concerned.

I check on my close friends when I have not heard from them because they are my friends..even when we are not speaking, I check.  I never want to have regrets of why I did not call or stop by if the unthinkable happens.

This is like our environment..we need to constantly check on it because we may not have it any longer.  We take water for granted and since moving to NC I have become more conscience of my consumption (specially since I have a water bill).  Previously, I never gave much thought now through Nat'l Geographic and Planet Green stations,  I understand why we must all conserve.

These have been my thoughts for today.
